1. University of Twente Background Information

The University of Twente was established in 1961 as the third technological university in the Netherlands. It is a research university that “focuses on the development of technology and its impact on people and society”. It is located in the city of Enschede, towards the north-east of the country, very close to the German border.

UT offers 22 Bachelor’s programmes and 31 Master’s programmes in the fields of technology and behavioural and social sciences. There are six faculties to choose from that are “high tech, with a human touch”. Currently, there’s about 8,000 students enrolled in a programme at the University of Twente.

UT is part of the 3TU.Federation. This partnership with the other two leading technological universities in the Netherlands (Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology) “maximizes innovation by combining and concentrating the strengths of all three universities in research, education and knowledge transfer”.
